Fernando Alonso: Bad luck at Imola
Alonso finished 11th at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix F1 race at Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari on Sunday.
Analysis:
Aston Martin brought upgrades to Italy and saw a significant uptick in their competitiveness, with Alonso reaching Q3 for the first time on the season. However, he was derailed by bad luck come race day, pitting early only to lose out when most of the field stopped when a virtual safety car was deployed on Lap 29. Alonso didn't have any fresh tire compounds remaining when a full safety car was deployed with around 15 laps left in the race, leaving him outside the points yet again. He has yet to finish inside the top 10 this season, though this was a promising weekend with his Aston Martin looking more competitive.
