George Russell: Wins Canadian GP Pole
Russell has stormed to pole position in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, the Mercedes man beating Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri in the final moments to take P1 on the medium tyre, Formula1.com reports.
Analysis:
Russell would advance to Q3 and in the initial runs would only manage P3. The Mercedes star would come in and bolt on medium tyres for his final flying laps and it would end up propelling him to pole position over Verstappen. Russell would log a lap of 1:10.899 and bump Verstappen off pole by just over one-tenth in the closing moments of qualifying. It was his first pole position of the season and seventh-career pole.
