Patricio O’Ward: Loses power in Portland
O'Ward was forced to retire from the Grand Prix of Portland IndyCar race on Lap 22 due to a loss of power.
Analysis:
O'Ward began the race on pole after teammate Christian Lundgaard was penalized for an engine component and looked to be challenging for a race win. He pitted from the lead on Lap 17 and only five laps later was called into the pits due to a direct injection box malfunction. In addition to losing out on a strong finish of his own, O'Ward's retirement handed Alex Palou his fourth IndyCar championship.
