PSG officially appoints Tuchel as new manager
Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed its new manager.
The club from the French capital announced Monday it hired German gaffer Thomas Tuchel, who will take over on a two-year deal.
Tuchel, who last managed Borussia Dortmund until May 2017, replaces Unai Emery. In April, Emery announced he would be leaving the 2017-18 Ligue 1 champion at the end of the season.
"It is with much joy, pride, and ambition that I am joining this big club, Paris Saint-Germain," Thomas said in a statement, courtesy of ESPN's Jonathan Johnson. "I can't wait to start working with all these great players who are all amongst the best in the world."
Tuchel led Dortmund to a DFB-Pokal triumph in 2017, defeating Eintracht Frankfurt in the final. However, the domestic cup was the manager's only silverware with the German side, and he parted ways with the club just days later amid what he later confirmed was a breakdown in his relationship with Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.
