Metz defender 'seriously injured' in car crash
Strasbourg, France, Nov 4, 2019 (AFP) - Metz defender Manuel Cabit is in hospital after he was "seriously injured" in a car crash involving team-mate Kevin N'Doram, the Ligue 1 club said Monday.
The 26-year-old Cabit was transported to a hospital in Reims after a motorway accident on Sunday although his condition is not said to be life threatening.
N'Doram, 23, was unharmed but left in shock, the club said in a statement.
According to an informed source, Cabit was hospitalised with a "lack of feeling in (his) lower limbs".
The source also said the accident, which took place just outside Reims, occurred when the vehicle driven by N'Doram was travelling at a speed "estimated between 180 and 200km/h".
Two other passengers were reportedly in the vehicle. One suffered minor injuries while the other was more seriously hurt, the source added.
Metz did not confirm the reports when contacted by AFP.
"His family and friends are by his side. His team-mates, coaches and everyone at FC Metz offer their strongest support in these difficult moments and wish him a quick recovery," the club said in its statement.
Metz are 19th in Ligue 1 following a 2-2 draw at home to Montpellier on Saturday.
