Rennes coach Bruno Genesio has left his position by mutual agreement with the Ligue 1 club who are lurking just above the relegation zone.
"For personal reasons Bruno Genesio is leaving his job as head coach," the Brittany club explained.
The 57-year-old former Lyon coach was in his fourth season with Rennes since joining from Beijing Guoan.
The announcement comes a week after a 1-0 home defeat to bottom-placed Lyon, the club Genesio coached from 2015 to 2019.
Julien Stephan will return to Rennes with whom he won the French Cup in 2019 before a switch to Strasbourg.
