Maxwell extends PSG deal until 2017
Maxwell has extended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain by another year, committing his short-term future to the Ligue 1 club until 2017.
Maxwell joined PSG in 2012, one of the first signings of the Qatari Sports Investments era. Voted Ligue 1's best left-back for three of the past four years, the 34-year-old led an influx of Brazilians to the Parc des Princes, featuring alongside the likes of Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, and David Luiz in defence.
Maxwell also facilitated the transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who consulted his long-time friend before making the move from AC Milan.
"I am very happy to see Maxwell stay at the club," said club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. "Our fans have always appreciated his exemplary conduct, which does the club proud.
"For four years and a half, Maxwell has brought us a lot of satisfactions on the pitch. He is a player with some great human qualities. He has also been very important for us off the pitch, taking care to preserve unity in the squad and to foster the development of our youngsters."
