Veteran French midfielder Jeremy Toulalan completed his anticipated move to Bordeaux on Wednesday after terminating his contract with principality club Monaco.
Toulalan, 32, signed a two-year deal with Bordeaux to become Jocelyn Gourvennec's first signing since taking over Les Girondins in May.
"I've spent three wonderful seasons at Monaco and I'm proud to have played a part in the club's return to the French and European football scene," Toulalan said in a statement ahead of the transfer. "The time has come for me to seek a new challenge, which will also allow me to be closer to my home region."
Toulalan came through the youth ranks at nearby Nantes, his hometown club, and embarked on a career largely spent within Ligue 1's borders. He played for Lyon between 2006 and 2011 - during which time he made the majority of his 36 appearances for France - and ventured to La Liga's Malaga for the next two years.
Toulalan joined Monaco in 2013 and helped it to mount a challenge against Paris Saint-Germain. He remained a consistent starter under manager Leonardo Jardim right through last season.
