Swansea's Gomis joins Marseille on season-long loan

Swansea City has allowed its lumbersome forward Bafetimbi Gomis to return to France in a season-long loan to Marseille.

The 30-year-old, whose unique panther crawl goal celebration became a familiar sight during a storming start to the 2015-16 season, mustered just two league strikes between September and the end of last term.

It's hoped he can regurgitate the physical and prolific form in Bouches-du-Rhone that saw him rise to prominence at Olympique Lyonnais between 2009 and 2014.

Gomis is among those sacrificed as manager Francesco Guidolin oversees a severe shake-up of the Swans' squad. In the attacking department alone, Gomis follows Eder and Alberto Paloschi out the exit door. For their replacements, chairman Huw Jenkins is apparently sighting Leicester City's Leonardo Ulloa and Fernando Llorente of Sevilla.

At Marseille, Gomis follows fellow attacking newcomers into the club after the permanent acquisition of Remy Cabella from Newcastle United and Saif-Eddine Khaoui arriving from Tours FC.

Franck Passi's side kicks off its Ligue 1 campaign against Toulouse on Aug. 14.
