Report: PSG will value sponsorship contract with QTA at €175M
Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly ready to value its sponsorship contract as its greatest source of revenue.
The Qatar Tourism Authority is set to pay about €175 million as part of its sponsorship contract with PSG, according to Ronan Folgoas of Le Parisien. That would represent approximately 30 percent of Les Parisiens' budget for the 2016-17 season, estimated to be between €550 million and €560 million. The deal will apparently be included in the budget the club submits to UEFA in October.
PSG was sanctioned by UEFA just two years ago for breaching Financial Fair Play rules, as Jonathan Johnson of ESPN FC explains. Les Parisiens effectively wiped out their annual losses of €130 million by announcing a backdated sponsorship contract with QTA, valuing the deal at €200 million when European football's governing body valued it at half that amount.
Among the restrictions, PSG was only allowed to register a potential maximum of 21 players for the 2014-15 Champions League, rather than 25 players. Les Parisiens agreed to UEFA's sanction but also denied allegations of creative accounting, saying they "deplore the fact" that "the full value" of their partnership with QTA wasn't recognised.
