The silly season is upon us.
All it took was one picture to send social media into a tailspin, as AS Monaco defender Benjamin Mendy supposedly posted a photo from the inside of a plane.
Football supporters immediately connected the dots and concluded he was likely on his way to complete a transfer to Manchester City after reports suggested a move to the Premier League outfit was on the horizon for the 22-year-old.
Mendy caught wind of the rampant speculation and responded with a video showing him cruising down the Champs Elysee in Paris on what looks to be a go-kart.
The video was accompanied by a message in French noting how "Manchester" has changed, as well as a plea for everyone to calm down.
Other than enjoying a ride down the historic avenue, Mendy is presumably in the capital ahead of his duties with the French national team, as the country gets set for a World Cup qualifier against Sweden on June 9.
