Lyon threatened with European ban after recent crowd trouble
Lyon could be banned from European competition due to a UEFA charge relating to Thursday's Europa League second-leg defeat to CSKA Moscow.
The French club currently has a two-year suspended ban from April 2017 for previous issues at a Europa League tie, and the latest disciplinary breach for crowd disturbances threatens to trigger that suspension. French police estimated up to 150 Lyon ultras attacked officers ahead of last week's 3-2 home loss that dumped Bruno Genesio's side from the tournament on away goals, reports BBC Sport.

Lyon was also charged for throwing of objects and setting off fireworks, racist behaviour, and blocked stairways. The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 31.
"If a further offence is committed during the probationary period, the competent disciplinary body, as a rule, orders that the original disciplinary measure be enforced," reads UEFA's most recent Disciplinary Regulations. "This may be added to the disciplinary measure imposed for the new offence."
Lyon is positioned in fourth after 30 games of the 2017-18 Ligue 1 season, which would normally mean qualification for the Europa League. The club is also just two points short of the top three places which allow a route into the Champions League.
