Guillermo Ochoa quits relegated Ajaccio
MARSEILLE - Mexico international goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has quit relegated French side AC Ajaccio after three seasons in Corsica.
"After three years loyal service to AC Ajaccio, Memo Ochoa is leaving the club to discover new horizons," the now Ligue 2 club confirmed on their website.
"He has achieved more than 400 saves in three seasons of Ligue 1. He was the most consistent player with 112 matches to his name in the league."
Ajaccio added that the 28-year-old, who has been named in Mexico's squad for the 2014 World Cup finals, had been the "subject of interest from numerous clubs".
Guillermo Ochoa had previously praised Ajaccio as "the only club who offered me a chance after the doping affair of which I was accused".
He was among five members of the Mexico team who tested positive for clenbuterol during the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. They blamed contaminated meat and were later cleared.
Ajaccio finished bottom of Ligue 1 this season with just four wins from 38 matches.
