Following an impressive showing at the World Cup where he helped lead his country to its first-ever quarterfinal appearance, Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina, 25, is on his way to Arsenal for a reported fee of just over £3 million.

Although Arsenal have yet to officially announce the signing, the move has been expected for some time and confirmation of the deal came courtesy of Nice manager Claude Puel on Saturday.

"It's important for him to try another league, another club and Arsenal is a fantastic club for him," Puel told Sky Sports. "He can take the No. 1 jersey at Arsenal because he is very strong.

"It is confirmed for me that he is going, yes. He's good with his feet and his hands. He knows the game very well and is a very good player. It's a good deal for Arsenal."

Ospina has spent all six seasons of his career in Europe featuring for Nice, making 189 Ligue 1 appearances for the French club in that time. At Arsenal, he'll find himself competing for playing time with Polish 'keeper Wojciech Szczesny.

One year was left on Ospina's contract with Nice, but he reportedly rejected the offer of a new deal in May.
