Paris Saint-Germain lost defender David Luiz in the opening half of Sunday's Classique against Marseille, with the Brazilian limping off the pitch in the 33rd minute after pulling up and reaching for his hamstring while making one of his trademark runs out of defense.
He was replaced by Gregory van der Wiel, and his leg was immediately wrapped in heavy bandages upon taking up his spot on the bench.
With the club about to embark on a series of important fixtures that will determine whether they deem this season a success, the loss of the Brazilian could prove costly for the capital-based club.
