Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a Parisian since joining Paris Saint-Germain from AC Milan over three years ago, wasted no time in offering his condolences after a night of violence in Paris killed at least 129 people and left another 352 injured.

Speaking after Sweden's 2-1 victory over Denmark in the first leg of their Euro 2016 play-off Saturday, Ibrahimovic addressed fellow inhabitants of Paris in conversation with broadcaster Kanal 5, telling them that he stands behind all those who are affected by the multiple attacks on the city.

"It's sad, tragic," Ibrahimovic said. "I stand behind those who have passed on and the families there. I tried hard to focus on the game, which was very hard."

Friends Arena, the stadium in Sweden where the first leg took place, was lit up in blue, white, and red for the match. Furthermore, a minute's silence was observed before kickoff and players wore black armbands.
