Sofiane Boufal opts to represent Morocco's national team
Sofiane Boufal's international future is determined.
On Monday, the Federation Royale Marocaine de Football announced that Boufal, who was born in Paris, will represent Morocco's national team rather than France's national team.
Boufal, 22, is enjoying a phenomenal Ligue 1 season at Lille OSC having tallied eight goals and three assists through 24 appearances, while averaging 2.6 key passes per game, 2.8 fouled per game, and 1.9 shots per game.
orocco will welcome Cape Verde on March 26 in 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, a qualifier that could see Boufal make his debut. Three days later, the Atlas Lions will visit the Blue Sharks in a reverse fixture. The two national teams sit atop Group F, which also includes Libya and Sao Tome and Principe, with six points each.
