Ryan Mason has been called into the England squad as his replacement for Tuesday's friendly with France.
Delph has already dealt with two hamstring problems this term, which has restricted him to just 29 minutes of Premier League action for his new club. Although it's not known what this latest setback is, City will be sure to get him back to the Etihad Campus for an assessment at the earliest opportunity.
Three Lions' gaffer Roy Hodgson revealed he's going to field an "experimental" lineup with many youngsters expected to be fielded at Wembley.
One of the more youthful contingent - who could be in line for his debut - is Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard, who was called in as a replacement for Michael Carrick and Jamie Vardy on Sunday.
