Milan edges Lazio on penalties to book cup final showdown vs. Juventus

Alessio Romagnoli thumped home the winning penalty against Lazio in Wednesday's tense Coppa Italia semi-final second leg to send AC Milan to a second final in three years.

Juventus will face the Rossoneri on May 9 in a rematch of the 2015-16 showpiece, which the Old Lady won thanks to Alvaro Morata's goal in extra time.

Lazio gave everything it could to beat Milan on Wednesday, launching wave after wave of attacks throughout the contest. The host outshot the visitor 21-12 on the night, but Gianluigi Donnarumma's spectacular saves kept Lazio at bay and his teammates in the tie.

The teenage goalkeeper one-upped himself in penalty kicks with two impressive stops, making up for misses by teammates Ricardo Rodriguez and Riccardo Montolivo.

Substitute Luiz Felipe then laced Lazio's seventh spot-kick up and over the net to allow Romagnoli the chance to end it, and the 23-year-old - who grew up supporting the Biancocelesti - deposited a shot safely into the bottom corner to win it for Milan.

Gennaro Gattuso's men are now unbeaten in 13 matches across all competitions - the club's longest such streak since December 2009 - and haven't conceded a goal in 584 minutes of play.

Even before stepping up to take the decisive penalty, Romagnoli made several last-ditch tackles to blunt Lazio's effervescent wingers. Davide Calabria was just as effective in defence, winning nine tackles while producing a game-high 15 clearances.
