Juventus chief expects to sign Liverpool's Can before World Cup

The uncertainty over Emre Can's future at Liverpool appears to be over after Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta expressed his optimism over signing the German international.

Can has been linked with a move to Turin since last summer before entering the final season of his contract. He reportedly held talks with Liverpool officials throughout the 2017-18 campaign but failed to negotiate a new deal.

Despite manager Jurgen Klopp's efforts to persuade Can to sign a new contract, it appears that he'll make the switch to Juventus in a move that Marotta expects to be announced after Liverpool takes on Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 26.

"I'm confident we will be able to announce Emre Can after the Champions League final," Marotta said in an interview with an Italian outlet, according to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports.

Can was included in Liverpool's squad list for the final in Kyiv, but the midfielder, who was left out of Germany's 23-man squad for the World Cup, is not expected to appear in the match after being sidelined with a back injury since March.

The 24-year-old was a regular fixture in Klopp's team before suffering the injury, starting 24 Premier League matches and scoring three goals while providing four assists.
