Chong signs new United deal after reportedly agreeing terms with Inter
Tahith Chong has chosen Manchester United.
The Dutch prospect signed a new contract with the club on Monday through June 2022 with an option to extend for an additional year. Chong also had a deal in place to join Inter Milan at the end of this season if he rejected United's offer, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.
Chong, 20, would have been available to leave on a free transfer this summer with his previous contract set to expire in June 2020.
"When I joined Manchester United as a youngster, it was a dream come true. It is an honor every time I pull on the shirt and represent this club," Chong said. "I am working hard every day to improve and I know this is the perfect environment to develop my game.
"The opportunity to learn from the manager, his coaching staff and the world-class players here is fantastic. I am delighted to sign this new contract and really grateful for the chance to prove myself here for many years to come."
Chong joined United from Feyenoord's academy in 2016 and has since appeared five times in the Premier League. This season, the attacker has featured 10 times for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side across all competitions, including when he assisted in last month's 5-0 rout of Club Brugge in the Europa League.
