It seems Paris Saint-Germain have already identified their ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
With the French superstar reportedly informing the club that he plans to depart as a free agent at season's end, PSG have made Napoli striker Victor Osimhen one of their top transfer targets for the summer window, report David Ornstein and Peter Rutzler of The Athletic.
Osimhen, 25, signed a contract extension with Napoli in December that reportedly includes a release clause worth around €130 million.
Shortly after signing that deal, the prolific forward said he had already "made up" his mind about his next move. That prompted Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to proclaim that Osimhen is "either going to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, or an English club" in the near future.
The Nigerian international, who led Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years last season, has 67 goals in 119 appearances since joining the Italian side from Lille in 2020.
He was signed at Lille by Luis Campos, who currently works as an adviser in PSG's recruitment department.
Napoli and PSG have a strong working relationship, with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and Fabian Ruiz all making the move from Naples to the French capital during De Laurentiis' reign.
Were Osimhen to make the same switch, he would join a club already loaded with a variety of attacking options. PSG, perhaps in early anticipation of Mbappe's eventual departure, signed Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani last summer in deals that could ultimately be worth a combined €160 million. They also added wide forwards Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola.
