Cornet joins Genoa's relegation fight on loan from West Ham
Maxwel Cornet has signed for Genoa on loan from West Ham United, the Serie A club said on Monday.
Ivory Coast's Cornet, who can play as a winger and full back on the left flank, joins Genoa after being recalled from another loan at Southampton where the 28-year-old only made four appearances.
The former Lyon man, who has 31 caps and six goals for his country, won the Europa Conference League with West Ham in 2023, the only major honour of his career.
Managed by Patrick Vieira, Genoa sit 12th and four points above the relegation zone in Serie A after losing 3-1 at Roma on Friday.
Genoa were recently taken over by Romanian businessman Dan Sucu, ending the ownership of controversial investment firm 777 Partners.
Italian media report Genoa are set to terminate Mario Balotelli's contract with the former Italy striker frozen out by Vieira after playing just 57 minutes since signing as a free agent in October.
