Como co-owner Michael Hartono dies aged 86: club
Michael Hartono, one of the billionaire Indonesian brothers who own Como, has died at the age of 86, the Serie A club announced on Thursday.
Hartono and his brother Robert, owners of tobacco giant Djarum which was founded by their father in the 1950s, bought Como in 2019 when the club was in Italy's third division.
"Como 1907 is deeply saddened by the passing of Michael Bambang Hartono. We extend our sincere condolences to the Hartono family and to all at the Djarum Group," said Como in a statement.
"Under the family's leadership, the club has entered a new chapter in its history, and we remember him with gratitude and respect."
Under Djarum's ownership Como have flown up the divisions and are bidding for a first-ever qualification for the Champions League under coach Cesc Fabregas.
Como, who have never played in European competition, were promoted to Serie A for the first time in more than two decades in 2024.
