Javi Gracia Carlos signs as Rubin Kazan boss

Moscow - Russian club Rubin Kazan announced on Friday it has signed Spaniard Javier Gracia Carlos as its new coach.

"A Spaniard - one of Spain's leading coaches Javi Gracia - has become head coach for the first time in our history," the club's general director Ilgiz Fakhriyev told a press conference. He did not disclose the terms of the deal but said Gracia's bonuses would be performance related.

"I would like to start my work as soon as possible. I'm looking forward to starting this job," Gracia Carlos, 46, told reporters in the team's home city of Kazan on the Volga River.

In an interview published on Wednesday on Malaga's website, Gracia Carlos said that he had accepted an "irresistible offer" from Rubin for the next four seasons, a day after the Spanish club had announced his departure.

Spanish sports daily Marca reported that Gracia Carlos would sign a four-year deal worth €12 million euros.
