Barcelona announced Monday the appointment of Oscar Grau as its new chief executive officer after incumbent Ignacio "Nacho" Mestre requested to extend his leave of absence.
Grau previously served as director of FCBEscola, a series of soccer schools, and was a handball player for Barcelona from 1984-1995.
The 2015 Catalan Association of Sports Managers' "Best Professional Manager" award winner is also involved with Barcelona's 2026 Olympics bid and was the manager of the Catalan handball and sailing federations.
Mestre will continue on as a "general director of the club."
