Cristiano Ronaldo capped off a remarkable calendar year in fitting fashion, the Portuguese star's hat-trick powering Real Madrid to a 4-2 extra-time victory over Kashima Antlers in the Club World Cup final on Sunday.

While it wasn't the stroll many expected - Kashima, the first Asian club to ever make the final of the tournament, led early in the second half - Ronaldo once again stole the show.
His treble, procured through goals in the 60th, 97th and 104th minute, ensured that a year in which he won the Champions League, European Championship and Ballon d'Or would end on a high note.
