El Clasico's 1st half puts Twitter to sleep
With nothing to separate the two sides following a goalless first half, the season's first Clasico, to put it kindly, has been underwhelming after 45 minutes of lackluster performances from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
That could be partly due to the massive build-up ahead of a marquee matchup such as this, but the lack of quality chances from either side have plagued the contest.

However, the match has featured the usual controversial moments normally associated with El Clasico, with a shout for a penalty being ignored by match official after Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano appeared to foul Lucas Vazquez in the area.
The Twitterverse, however, was doing everything in its power to stay awake:
@footballespana_ I just made some espresso to stay alerted through this, so far, boring #ElClasico 🇪🇸! You guys need some? 😁🇪🇸💛🇪🇸 pic.twitter.com/bXLSIT8GtB

A poor game, but that plays well for Real Madrid. Modric has helped take sting out of it and Barça’s not offered any response. #ElClasico
