Busquets sprains ankle ligament vs. Eibar; scan set for Monday
Barcelona's Sergio Busquets was stretchered off the pitch just nine minutes into Sunday's match against Eibar, with the club confirming the influential midfielder sprained the external lateral ligament in his right ankle.
He will undergo tests on Monday to discern the severity of the issue.
Already without Andres Iniesta for the La Liga tilt, Barcelona started with a midfield trio of Ivan Rakitic, Busquets, and Arda Turan.
Manager Luis Enrique was forced to make yet another change to his lineup when Eibar's Gonzalo Escalante caught Busquets' right ankle with a dangerous studs-up challenge. The Spain international dropped to the pitch in agony and immediately required attention.
Rakitic temporarily moved into the holding position, while Denis Suarez - who replaced Busquets - assumed the Croatian's spot on the right side.
The substitute scored the game's opening goal in the 31st minute with a low drive into the bottom left corner.
