Real Madrid's Varane may not face Leganes due to thigh injury
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane could struggle to regain fitness in time to feature Wednesday against Leganes after being diagnosed with a thigh injury.
The France international suffered the injury just 10 minutes into Sunday's 3-0 victory over Alaves.
There is no timetable for his return as Real gets looks to maintain its two-point advantage atop the Liga table.
A statement on Real Madrid's website reads: "After the tests performed today on our player Raphael Varane at the University Hospital Sanitas la Moraleja, he has been diagnosed with a grade 2 injury in the left femoral biceps. His recovery will continue to be assessed."
The imposing centre-back had just returned from a hamstring injury that kept him out for six weeks before returning Sunday. Real Madrid failed to record a single clean sheet in six matches without Varane.
Varane, 23, was forced to miss more than a month after suffering a similar thigh injury in November 2015.
