Report: Monaco rejects Real Madrid's €120M offer for Mbappe
It seems no price is high enough to pry Kylian Mbappe away from AS Monaco - or, at least, €120 million isn't.
The Ligue 1 champion rejected a massive, would-be-world-record fee from Real Madrid for the 18-year-old striker, according to Jason Burt of the Telegraph. It's more than the €100 million Manchester United paid to lure Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford and would also eclipse the figures of both of Real's star signings, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Such is the reality of trying to sign Mbappe, the hottest commodity in the summer transfer market who burst onto the scene this season out of La Turbie - Monaco's youth academy.
His 26 goals in all competitions spell the story of a young star on the rise, with Mbappe catching the attention of Europe's biggest clubs as Monaco traversed through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, and won a domestic title for the first time in 17 years.
But vice-president Vadim Vasilyev made it pretty clear Monaco isn't going to consider any old offer, and is hoping to pen Mbappe to a new deal with the club. He offered that Mbappe "doesn't have a price" and outlined his plan for the youngster: "That he stays at least one more season with us, that he continues his stunning progression, and that he helps us get even bigger."
Burt, for his reporting, adds that Vasilyev refused to discuss any details about any bids for Mbappe, though Burt added that a source close to the offer has suggested it is genuine.
