Eduardo Berizzo has finally arrived in Andalusia to ink a two-year contract in charge of Sevilla.

The club announced it reached an agreement last Wednesday for the manager to assume control following a season in which he guided Celta Vigo to semi-final appearances in the Copa del Rey and Europa League.

Berizzo's brand of football may seem similar to that of his predecessor at Sevilla, Jorge Sampaoli. The former manager, who left to fill the vacancy at Argentina, oversaw a game plan that featured the hallmarks of Marcelo Bielsa's philosophy - likely influenced from their time playing alongside each other at Newell's Old Boys. He famously adopted Bielsa's approach when he took the Chile job 22 months after the wily tactician stepped down from the same role.

Like Sampaoli, Berizzo is influenced by the relentless pressing that Bielsa employs. The retired defender played under Bielsa between 1990 and 1992 at Newell's Old Boys, and first notably deployed a system which harked back to his old boss' when guiding Chilean side O'Higgins to its first title in its 58-year history in the Super Final Apertura in 2013.

Berizzo then kept Celta Vigo producing at a high level over three seasons, despite losing key players to larger teams at various points in his tenure; he'll reunite with one of them, Michael Krohn-Dehli, at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
