Watch: Messi wishes Neymar good luck in Instagram post
Lionel Messi is the first of Neymar's soon-to-be-ex-teammates to wish the Brazilian well in his new chapter with Paris Saint-Germain.
"Huge pleasure to have shared these years with you Neymar, friend. Lots of luck in the next stage of your life," Messi wrote on Instagram, as translated by ESPN FC's Samuel Marsden.
Messi formed one of the most potent attacking tridents in modern football history with Neymar and Luis Suarez, scoring more than 100 goals in each of the past three seasons.
Neymar's father said last year his son chose to join Barcelona in 2013 because Messi is the 25-year-old's idol.
Upon arriving from Santos, Neymar himself stood in awe of Barcelona's stars and said he was living a boyhood dream.
But PSG has reportedly turned his head, offering him the chance to lead his own team in the French capital.
