Report: Barcelona submits £138M bid for Coutinho; Liverpool to reject
Barcelona is seemingly relentless in its pursuit of Philippe Coutinho after launching yet another bid for the Liverpool star.
After failing three previous times, Ed Aarons of the Guardian understands that Barcelona submitted a fourth bid worth £138 million.
However, Liverpool is expected to remain steadfast and reject the Spanish side's latest attempt to sign the Brazilian despite his reported eagerness to join Barcelona after submitting a transfer request earlier this summer.
Coutinho has yet to feature during Liverpool's opening three matches of the season because of an apparent back problem, an injury disputed by Brazil's team doctor upon his arrival for a World Cup qualifier earlier this week.
The British transfer window closed Thursday, but a move to Barcelona could still come to fruition Friday before La Liga's transfer period ends. British clubs are allowed to complete deals for outgoing players.
A fourth attempt has been in the works for over a week after Barcelona failed with its third offer, reportedly worth £114 million.
Coutinho was included in Brazil's squad for the country's two World Cup qualifiers, but was not included in the starting XI for Thursday's match against Ecuador.
