Report: De Ligt considering options after PSG's €70M offer
Paris Saint-Germain reportedly offered Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt a five-year contract worth €380,000 (£340,000) a week and his club €70 million (£62 million) in order to beat Barcelona to his signature.
But it may not be enough. The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano reports that De Ligt is planning to weigh his options before making a decision.
ESPN reported on Monday that Barcelona had agreed to pay €80 million for the 19-year-old but couldn't come to a consensus on a contract.
Sensing an opportunity, PSG booked a meeting with De Ligt's agent Mino Raiola to commandeer negotiations, according to Romano. Raiola's good relationship with Leonardo, PSG's incoming sporting director, could also work in the club's favor.
Raiola reportedly stalled on a deal with Barcelona in the hopes of starting a bidding war between Europe's top clubs. Manchester United, Liverpool, and Juventus have all been linked with De Ligt in recent months.
