URGENT ¥¥¥ Four-goal Ilicic guides Atalanta into Champions League quarters
Valencia, Spain, March 10, 2020 (AFP) - Josip Ilicic smashed four goals past Valencia on Tuesday as Atalanta cruised into the last eight of the Champions League for the first time with a 4-3 win at Valencia that advances them 8-4 on aggregate.
Ilicic became the first player to score four times away from home in a Champions League knockout match thanks to two first half penalties and another two fine finishes after the break at a Mestalla stadium closed to the public due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Kevin Gameiro scored twice and Ferran Torres bagged another for the home side as they failed to claw back a 4-1 deficit from the first leg.
