Luka Jovic suffers mysterious broken foot
Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic has a fracture in his right foot, the club announced Friday, despite being out of action since the middle of March.
It's unclear how Jovic suffered the injury.
The 22-year-old recently returned to the Spanish capital with his teammates to undergo tests and resume training.
Jovic has made headlines for the wrong reasons in recent months. He defied an order from the Serbian government to quarantine for 28 days in March and reportedly faced charges. Though he said he had only stepped out to buy medication, reports at the time indicated he was celebrating his girlfriend's birthday on the city's streets.
Jovic said Madrid's medical team gave him permission to fly home, but the rest of his teammates were instructed to self-isolate after one of Madrid's basketball players tested positive for COVID-19.
He's endured a miserable first season in La Liga, scoring just two league goals since joining Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer for a reported €60 million.
