Report: Everton in talks to sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid
Everton are in talks with Real Madrid to sign wantaway midfielder James Rodriguez on a permanent transfer, according to Jason Burt of The Telegraph.
The 29-year-old is eager to reunite with former manager Carlo Ancelotti, Burt adds.
The Colombian made just eight league appearances for Real Madrid this season and is looking for a way out to revive a career that stalled at club level after his mega-money move to the Spanish capital in 2014.
Ancelotti, who worked with Rodriguez at Madrid and Bayern Munich, is a known admirer of the creative left-footed playmaker.
"James Rodriguez? I like, I like a lot as a player," Ancelotti said last month.
"When I left Madrid, James Rodriguez followed me to Munich. He came to play. But he followed me as a rumor to Napoli, and now he is following me here to Everton as a rumor."
The Toffees are also in talks with Watford and Napoli over potential deals for midfielders Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan, reports Fabrizio Romano of The Guardian. The Premier League side is yet to reach the valuation for either player, with deals for the two expected to cost roughly €35 million each.
