Leeds to sign Valencia forward Rodrigo for reported €30M fee
Leeds United reached an agreement with Valencia on Tuesday to sign 29-year-old forward Rodrigo Moreno, securing their first major transfer since returning to the Premier League.
The deal is worth €30 million, plus a potential €10 million in add-ons, according to Reuters' Richard Martin.
"Valencia CF want to thank Rodrigo Moreno for his commitment and effort over the last six seasons - in which he helped to win a cup title," the club said in a statement. "We wish him all the best in this new stage of his career at Leeds."
Rodrigo is the latest player to leave Valencia as the La Liga side attempts to balance their books. Coveted winger Ferran Torres joined Manchester City earlier this month, and midfielders Dani Parejo and Francis Coquelin secured moves to Villarreal.
Los Che supporters protested the sales in front of Valencia's Mestalla Stadium and criticized owner Peter Lim for lack of investment. Lim's daughter, Kim, caused outrage when she boasted on Instagram that "the club is ours, and we can do anything we want with it."
The Brazilian native has represented Spain on 22 occasions. He joined Valencia in 2015, going on to score 59 goals in 220 games for the club and winning the Copa del Rey in 2019.
