Aubameyang's jaw injured during violent home robbery
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang injured his jaw when robbers raided his home earlier this week, he said.
"On Sunday night, some violent cowards broke into our home and threatened my family and my children, just to steal some stuff," the Barcelona striker tweeted Wednesday.
"They injured my jaw but I will recover in no time, and thank God no one else was physically harmed," he added.
The gang broke into Aubameyang's house equipped with firearms and iron bars, sources told ESPN's Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens.
The 33-year-old and his wife were reportedly handcuffed while their children were also inside the property in Castelldefels, just outside of Barcelona. The thieves fled by car after forcing Aubameyang to open a safe and taking the jewels inside, according to Spanish daily El Pais.
Aubameyang's broken jaw could sideline him for around three weeks and may have implications for his possible transfer to Chelsea. There are no issues over Aubameyang agreeing to personal terms with the English club, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano, but the Blues have so far been unwilling to meet Barcelona's asking price of more than €25 million for the former Arsenal attacker.
However, since Aubameyang was hurt in the incident at his home, a loan move to Chelsea has emerged as a possible solution, Marsden and Llorens report.
The Gabonese marksman only joined the Blaugrana in January, but he's since slipped down the pecking order at Camp Nou following the summer acquisitions of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.
