Rayo Vallecano announced Tuesday they had dismissed coach Francisco Rodriguez following a run of just one win in 14 matches in La Liga.
Rodriguez, 45, took over in June as the successor to Andoni Iraola, who left for English Premier League club Bournemouth.
Rayo Vallecano sit in 14th place, seven points above the relegation zone, having lost four of their past five games.
According to local reports Inigo Perez, who was second in command to Iraola last season, is one of the favoured options to replace Rodriguez.
