Welcome Jonathan dos Santos! Transfer agreed upon with FC Barcelona. Open-door presentation tomorrow at 20.15 at El Madrigal!"
Following a season where he played a grand total of 16 minutes for FC Barcelona due to a serious knee injury, Jonathan Dos Santos will be joining his brother Giovani at Villarreal for a transfer fee that could reportedly rise to €2 million Euros depending on performance clauses.
Giovani left the Catalan club and joined Tottenham in 2008 looking for more first-team action, while Jonathan stayed at Barcelona, where he's featured mainly for the Spanish giant's "B" team and dealt with nagging injuries.
A move to Villarreal will hopefully kick-start Jonathan's career and allow him the opportunity to see regular playing time if he can stay healthy. As a youngster at La Masia, big things were expected of him.
