Barcelona's Ibrahim Affelay loaned to Olympiakos
Ibrahim Affelay will be spending the final season of his contract with Barcelona in Greece.
The Catalan club announced on Sunday that they've loaned the Dutch attacking midfielder to Olympiakos after an agreement was reached between the two sides.
Affelay has struggled to recover from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that he suffered in September 2011. He was limited to five matches for Barca in their 2011-12 campaign before being loaned out to Schalke 04, where he picked up a muscle injury that limited his playing time in 2012-13.
Despite rejoining Barca ahead of the 2013-14 season, Affelay only featured in two matches: a La Liga fixture against Malaga and a Copa del Rey fixture against Levante.
At 28 years of age, it's fair to say that Affelay's best years have been ruined by injury. However, he'll have the chance to play European football this season as Olympiakos qualified for the Champions League as winners of the 2013-14 Superleague Greece.
