Robben on 2014 Ballon d'Or: Ronaldo and Messi 'are superior to everyone else'
Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has a very clear stance on who should take home the 2014 Ballon d'Or award. And it shouldn't really come as a surprise to anyone.
The Dutch star singled out perennial rivals Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, saying that the two La Liga titans are simply a class above the rest of the competition at the moment.
"Cristiano and Lionel are two monsters," Robben told France Football, as reported by Munchener Merkur. "What they've been doing for six years now is unmatched. They are superior to everyone else."
While Robben concedes he is unlikely to claim the honour, which is bestowed to the world's best player, he admits that simply being among the 23 finalists is an accomplishment in itself.
"The recognition is nice and I am proud to be on the list, but I have never been obsessed about it. That's just an individual accolade. And for me, only trophies with the team count," he said.
