VIDEO: Lionel Messi's goal brings Barcelona level with Espanyol
Reuters
It seemed inevitable that Barcelona would find an equalizer against local rivals Espanyol.
And, of course, Lionel Messi was the man to bring his side level in the dying moments of the first half at the Nou Camp.
After receiving a pass from midfielder Xavi outside the Espanyol box, Messi's first touch created just enough space for the Argentine to fire a low, curling shot past the 'keeper.
His shot looked like it would miss wide at first glance, but La Liga's all-time leading scorer put just enough spin on the ball to make it curl inside the post.
Messi went on to add another goal minutes later, while Gerard Pique increased the lead to 3-1 with a header.
