More than a club: Barcelona clinch La Liga title
For a club of Barcelona's magnitude, winning La Liga isn't enough.
After all, inscribed across the seats at their ground is "Mes Que Un Club," a motto that translates to "More Than A Club."
So perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise that Barcelona didn't just capture their 23rd La Liga title in any ordinary fashion on Sunday. They did it by defeating last year's champions, Atletico Madrid, at the Vicente Calderon, exactly one year to the day after Diego Simeone's side monumentally earned a draw at the Camp Nou to deny the Catalan club of last season's title.

Of course, it had to be Lionel Messi who scored the match's lone goal. It's how the script goes at Barcelona, and how it will continue to go until the Argentinian phenom can no longer put one foot in front of the other.
Upon receiving a yard of space - the ultimate mistake when it comes to containing the planet's top footballer - Messi played a wonderful give-and-go with Pedro before deploying some of his classic footwork and slotting the ball past Jan Oblak for his 41st La Liga goal of the season.
Messi's general composure implies that he isn't one to hold grudges, but statistics really do indicate that he entered the season seeking vengeance on Atleti.
1 - Lionel Messi is the only player to have scored against Jan Oblak in a La Liga game at Vicente Calderon. Star.

Lionel Messi scores his 23rd career goal against Atlético, the most against any team. Sevilla (22) and Real (21) follow. #Messi

While Neymar failed to get his name on the scoresheet, he did provide one moment of brilliance that served as a microcosm of the impact he's had at Barcelona this season.
Capturing silverware is nothing new for most players on Barcelona's squad, particularly Xavi, who added to his record tally of trophies.
Xavi wins his 26th trophy with club (23) and country (3), already a Spanish record. #Xavi

Following the final whistle, Barcelona players huddled in the middle of the pitch to celebrate their triumph - the completion of the first phase in their mission to secure the Treble.

It was then off to the touchline for the obligatory team photograph that any championship-winning side must snap.

Oh, and no celebration would be complete without a mosh pit in the dressing room.
Next up: the Copa del Rey final, followed by the Champions League final.
