A return to Real Madrid just isn't in the cards for Jose Mourinho.

After Sky Sports' Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague, claimed that Mourinho had rejected a potential return to the Santiago Bernabeu, where Carlo Ancelotti's days appear to be numbered, the Chelsea manager poured cold water on the report, insisting that a discussion took place between himself and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, but under different circumstances.

"It isn't true," Mourinho told Spanish daily Marca on Tuesday.

"The truth of the matter is that I called the president to congratulate him on winning the Euroleague title in basketball. I know how much it meant to him. That's why I was so happy for him and wanted to congratulate him."

Mourinho, who guided Real Madrid to a La Liga title in 2011-12 and a Copa del Rey title in 2010-11, is signed at Chelsea through 2017, although the London club are reportedly eager to extend his time at Stamford Bridge.

"What am I going to do in the future?" Mourinho said. "I have two years left on my contract at Chelsea and I plan on staying here."
