Lionel Messi continues to prove he's virtually impossible to defend.

The degree of difficulty is almost impossible to compare to other goals because the skills he displayed in the build-up to his opening tally of the Copa del Rey to give Barcelona a 1-0 lead on Athletic Bilbao rarely produce goals for 99.9 percent of footballers.

Messi, obviously, isn't like most players as his solo effort down the touchline brought the Camp Nou supporters to their feet once again as Barcelona fans bowed to his greatness.

It started off as a seemingly harmless run past the halfway line, but quickly turned into a special moment when Messi annihilated three Bilbao defenders with a change of pace and left them in the dust before darting into the box.

The job wasn't done there: He then forced another defender to spin the wrong way before thumping a perfect, curling shot into the bottom corner of goal.

Simply brilliant.
