The footballer who pushed Pedro out of Barcelona's starting XI hopes the Spanish forward stays at the Camp Nou.
Luis Suarez urged Pedro to reject a move away from the Catalan club in conversation with Marca, following a report that Manchester United is ready to trigger his teammate's alleged £22-million release clause.
"What Pedro does is a personal decision," Suarez stated. "He's been at the club for many years, has won many trophies and his decision will be respected, but obviously as his teammate, I want Pedro to stay because of his importance for the group."
Of course, it was Suarez's arrival at Barcelona that resulted in Pedro becoming a substitute. The 2013-14 La Liga season saw Pedro make 37 appearances, 28 of them as a starter. Once Suarez joined the club ahead of the 2014-15 La Liga campaign, Pedro was limited to 35 appearances, and only 15 as a starter.
Last month saw Pedro put pen to paper on a contract extension until 2019, but he reportedly only committed to the new deal after negotiating a reduction in his release clause from £110 million to £22 million.
