Barcelona's Luis Enrique downplays injuries to Dani Alves, Sergio Busquets
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique says injuries to Dani Alves and Sergio Busquets - sustained in his side's 2015-16 La Liga season opener against Athletic Bilbao - are not serious, despite both players coming off from the field.
Alves exited the match early with what looked like a groin issue, and Busquets followed suit afterwards with an ankle issue. Enrique admitted his team is dealing with some fitness issues but said he's not too concerned.
"This is a contact sport and we are not having much luck, although they do not seem to be serious injuries," Enrique told reporters after the match. "The preseason meant we had to compete very quickly, and there are more risks that this could happen."
The club also announced the two would undergo further tests to find out the extent of their injuries on Monday.
The two weren't the only players dealing with health issues as Brazilian forward Neymar remains unavailable after a bout of mumps. Enrique revealed that Neymar had begun training with the team again on Saturday but had no definitive date for a return to action.
"Given his illness, how he comes on will determine when he will be available," Enrique explained to the team's official website. "I am not worried if it takes Neymar a little bit of time to get back to fitness. Given how he is, I am sure he will get fit quickly and will be back available soon.”
